I registered into the TEAM In Training program a few weeks ago by speaking with one of the organizers at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the phone. I gave them my credit card for the very modest registration fee and the deal was done.
Although the staff member told me a lot of information…I was sure that I didn’t know everything I needed to.. so I jumped at the chance to meet the staff and volunteers at tonights “Preview Party” at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood.
I was so glad I went as that gave me an opportunity to meet with many of the coaches, mentors and other volunteers who will be supporting me throughout my marathon training program. I cannot wait for the training to commence.
I found out a number of things I didn’t know before tonight,.
- I guess it is a little unusual for participants to set their own personal goal for fundraising above the required minimum of $2,200 (I have committed to raising $10,000). I am cool with that.. hopefully it will be even more (with your help).
- The hotel in San Diego is provided as part of the whole package – which is pretty darn awesome. Although I was told when I registered that LLS reserves a whole hotel for the 6000 or so participants … I still thought I would be paying the hotel charges. Cool!!
- TEAM In Training is abbreviated to TNT … for obvious reasons.
Liam! I haven””t officially met you yet, but you might be my favorite mentee already! This site is amazing and I love that you””ve set your own goal for fundraising.
