The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the major beneficiary of the 2011 San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon on June 5th 2011
Starting February 12th 2011 I will be beginning my training for my first ever marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program.
Up until now I have been developing my running capabilities mostly by running by myself… and of course supported by my friends and family who have encouraged me all this time. To run a marathon I just know it will take more than anything I have given to this so far.
This is NOT what I expected.. or even planned on doing. I know I am not the only new runner who has experienced friends asking this question “So when are you going to run a marathon?”. My standard answer was “Never”.
So… why the change?
You could call it fate. In 2010 I produced a number of videos for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Orange County. You can see some of them here.
While producing those videos I found myself being connected with all types of people who were committed to making a difference to the various blood cancers that afflict all age ranges. If that wasn’t enough incentive – the LLS have one of the most active and well run training program specifically created to support people running in Marathons and other events – while at the same time raising much needed funds.
So… as my 2011 present to myself… I registered into the LLS Team In Training program for the San Diego Rock & Roll Half Marathon on
June 5th 2011.
I have set myself a goal of raising $10,000 for this worthy cause.
By supporting me in any way that you can – be that through your continued moral support – and especially through adding your donation you will all be running by my side – not just at the marathon… but EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.
Thank you!
